As noted in the title of my presentation, I will describe briefly the situation of biotechnology in Spain, focusing on the development of two biotechnology companies that, from distinct perspectives, highlight the importance of this area in the Spanish economy. Much of the success of biotechnology in Spain is due to its special consideration by the Spanish Strategy of Science and Technology and Innovation.
