The Data Harvesting Working Group was established by the Summit Catalog Committee (SCC) and convened by SCC representative Mark Dahl on December 11, 2006. It was charged with exploring Summit’s potential as a source of data for developing new services and informing decisions within the Alliance. The group met over the next three months via conference calls and collaborated by email and in an online forum. During this time, the group reviewed ongoing work with Google Scholar, summarized Summit’s existing report capabilities, and surveyed Alliance committees to determine where data deficiencies exist.
