Résumé/Sommaire :

Flooding due to precipitation is a major issue faced by hydrologists and its evaluation and prediction is of prime importance to void human causalities. In this study, surface run-off simulation of Bouregreg watershed has been done with Soil Conservation Service (SCS) and Initial & constant methods using HEC-HMS hydrological model. HEC-HMS model has been calibrated and validated for tree events (November 2005, October 2010 and November 2012). For choosing appropriate method, the model performance was evaluated using the Nash–Sutcliffe model efficiency (NS) index and the coefficient of determination (R²). The comparison of simulated and observed hydrographs showed that results based on the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) method have a higher correlation (R²=0.95, NS=0.91) than Initial & constant method (R2=0.76, NS = 0.56). It can be concluded that simulation using the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) method is more precise than Initial & constant method for estimating the flow peak.
