Part 1: Portfolio Assessment in Environmental Education
This part provides a basic understanding of what is a portfolio, how it can be set up and its importance to promote evaluation in environmental education.
Part 2: The European Portfolio for Environmental Education
This part contains the guidelines and the student sheets required for the compilation of the portfolio. There are six sections in this part of the handbook:
Section 1: Personal information about the owner
This section provides the reader of the portfolio with information about the portfolio’s owner
Section 2: A record of qualifications
This a record of qualifications showing the learner’s proficiency in specific significant learning experiences related to environmental education.
Section 3: A record of environmental education experiences
The section is an updateable record of how, why and where the learner learned what s/he knows.
Section 4: Samples of the student’s work and reflections about it
In this section students can collect samples of their work as evidence of their competences and experiences in environmental education.
Section 5: The teacher’s evaluation of the student’s competences
The section presents the competency-based tool for the evaluation of environmental education. It provides teachers with a list of environmental education competences, a method of assessing these competences and guidelines on how to use the tool within the context of a learning experience
Section 6: The student’s reflection about learning outcomes
The aim of this section is to provide a record of the reflections made by the student about his/her learning experience through planned student - teacher conferences about the learning outcomes of the portfolio.
